Paris Maine Fire DepartmentWEST PARIS — The former Penley Mill was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning, and firefighters from several towns were on the scene. A fireworks warehouse located behind the mill was not involved. Flames were rising from the roof of the old Penley Mill building  near the intersection of Penley Avenue, which is Route 219, and Greenwood Road. The building was “fully involved” in fire as of 1:45 a.m., a witness said. By 7:30 a.m., the flames had been extinguished and white smoke could be seen coming from one side of the remains of the mill. Firefighters suspected there may have been some chemicals in the building, and a Hazmat team was called in to handle that material. (read more at Lewiston Sun Journal)
