Walking Tour of Old Orchard Beach Expected to Heavily Feature the History of Banana Hammocks and Shrinkage

maine beachOLD ORCHARD BEACH — The town is looking for people interested in history to help create a proposed walking tour. The town is in the preliminary stages of creating a Museum in the Streets, according to a written statement from Assistant Town Planner Megan McLaughlin. Museum in the Streets is a company that works with local historians to create historical walking tours, marked by panels with photos and an educational narrative. The tours are enjoyed by both locals and tourists, according to the company’s website. “The tour gives residents and visitors a fun activity to do while helping local commerce as they explore areas of town looking for the different panels,” said McLaughlin.  (read more at the Journal Tribune)
