Theoretically Busy Intersection In Alfred To Get A Traffic Light

busy-alfred-intersectionALFRED – The state Department of Transportation is putting  a traffic light at an intersection near the York County Courthouse, a move officials have wanted for more than a decade. “It’s long overdue,” said Selectman John Sylvester, board chairman. Brian Keezer, a project manager with the department, said the state will be installing the light sometime this summer at the intersection of Old Kennebunk Road and Route 111. The intersection is a busy one, with traffic constantly turning north to get to the post office and the York County Courthouse, both of which are visible from the roads. Right now, the intersection has nothing more than a flashing yellow and red light hanging over it, and, Sylvester said, the town has received “all kinds of complaints” about it for years.
