sherry cooperWASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — It’s easy for us Americans to get discouraged about the future, what with the media and the politicians and the late-night comedians and Twitter yelling about all the bad stuff that’s going down. But from her vantage point across the border in Toronto, economist Sherry Cooper — the winner of MarketWatch’s October Forecaster of the Month award — sees a much brighter future for America. “The underlying fundamentals of the U.S. are very strong,” said Cooper, chief economist for BMO Financial Group. If we can get past the so-called fiscal cliff (and she thinks we will), there’s a lot of upside in the U.S. economy, both in the short term and over the long run.  (read more at MarketWatch)
