Sidney Fire Department’s Save The Basement Strategy Would Have Worked Like A Charm If Mobile Homes Had Basements

Sidney Fire DepartmentSIDNEY — A River Road woman lost her home and possibly three cats during a fire Tuesday afternoon.  The woman, Barbara St. Pierre, 69, said she smelled smoke and found flames that reached the ceiling when she went to the far end of her mobile home.  She called 911 after she left her home with her dog and one of her cats, but three other cats remained inside and are still missing, she said. When firefighters arrived at the residence around 12:15 p.m., the mobile home was engulfed in smoke, and flames were coming through a cap in the roof, according to Sidney Fire Chief Richard Jandraeu.
