Penobscot County Federal Credit Union to Ease Transition From a McDonald’s to a Bank by Posting Pictures of Money on a Menu Behind the Counter

Penobscot County Federal Credit UnionBANGOR, Maine — The drive-thru lane will remain, but instead of burgers and fries, customers will be getting cash at the former McDonald’s restaurant on Main Street. Penobscot County Federal Credit Union is moving its branch at 1 Merchants Plaza to 466 Main St. “It’s primarily being done for location, given the emphasis the city is placing on that area and all the activity going on there,” said Steven Baillargeon, the credit union’s president and CEO. “It provides much greater visibility for us as well.” Baillargeon said he hopes to have the move completed in three months and hold a grand opening in the fall. “There are very few banking institutions, especially credit unions, in that area, so it’s a very good location for us,” Baillargeon said of the new location.
