Greater Freeport Chamber of CommerceThere’s more new blood on the Freeport economic development scene. Doug Porter, 60, the former head of the York Chamber of Commerce and the Gateway to Maine Chamber of Commerce, took over as the executive director of the Greater Freeport Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 13. Earlier this year, both FreeportUSA, the local merchants’ association, and the Freeport Economic Development Corp. named new executive directors. For the last 10 years, Porter, a Maine native, has lived in Florida, working as an event planner for, a company that works with corporate and nonprofit groups. But he kept up his Maine roots even while he was away, spending summers in Bridgton with his family. (read more at Tri-Town Weekly)
