Maine Says No to More Slot Machines, So Degenerate Gamblers Should Open a Small Business to Get the Thrill of Randomly Losing Everything


slot machinesThe Maine Secretary of State’s Office has announced that a petition drive to put a possible York County casino on the November ballot has failed. Last week the Secretary of State said not enough verifiable signatures were gathered for a citizen’s initiative entitled “An Act to Allow Slot Machines or a Casino in York County.” Meanwhile, the Legislature continues to work on L.D. 1280, a bill that would require a competitive bid process for any new gaming facility in Maine, along with local approval on the county level. The bill is supported by both the Maine Harness Horseman’s Association and Scarborough Downs, a harness racetrack that’s been operating in town for more than 60 years.
