Freeman Township Fire Department’s Save The Basement Strategy Would Have Worked Like A Charm If Garages Had Basements

Freeman Township FireFREEMAN TOWNSHIP — Fire destroyed a generator, a Dodge truck and snowblowers in a two-car garage at 791 Foster Hill Road on Wednesday, Strong fire Chief Duayne Boyd said. Firefighters kept the fire from spreading to a ranch-style house about 20 feet away, although flames melted the vinyl siding, homeowner Richard Lavoie said. He did not know what caused the fire. The siding of a neighbor’s home near the garage was also damaged as firefighters fought the flames, Boyd said. (read more at Lewiston Sun Journal)
