Center For Maine Contemporary Art Worried Their New Gallery Might Not Be Ugly Enough


maine contemporary artROCKLAND, Maine — A 61-year-old nonprofit art center will move from its historic home in Rockport to join the thriving art scene in downtown Rockland. The Center for Maine Contemporary Art also announced Friday that it is in the midst of a campaign to raise $4 million for the relocation planned for 2015. The art center stated it has signed an agreement to purchase 21 Winter St., although the sale is not final. The property, consisting of a 12,000-square-foot building on a third of an acre, is adjacent to the Strand Theatre near the Farnsworth Art Museum. (read more at the Bangor Daily News)
