BP Ignores Maine Oil Boom Maker’s Spill-Ready Supply

Packgen of Auburn, Maine manufactures packaging for hazardous materials. Packgen’s President, John Lapoint, saw the BP oil spill in the news and understood right away that to have any hope of containing the oil drifting towards the shoreline, lots of floating, oil containment boom would be needed. So Packgen took a chance and started manufacturing oil boom, figuring that they’d be able to sell it to help in the containment and cleanup effort.
