Bangor Business Outreach Testing Out New ‘Misery Loves Company’ Approach

BANGOR, Maine — City officials are looking to recruit a few business owners to recruit more business owners to the Queen City. The idea for Bangor Ambassadors, a program formalized through Mobilize Eastern Maine, came from a collaborative effort by Bangor City Councilor Ben Sprague, Bangor Business Development Specialist Tanya Pereira, and Elizabeth Sutherland, co-owner of Sutherland Weston Marketing Communications and chairwoman of Mobilize Eastern Maine. “Basically what we are trying to do is put a personal touch on recruitment,” said Sprague. “The Bangor region has to differentiate itself, and one way to do so is by being welcoming, encouraging, helpful and polite. “It is always difficult to get people to move north, but there are so many wonderful things happening here that if we can personally explain it to people it might make it more likely for them to come.” (read more at BangorDailyNews)
