Celebration To Commemorate Saco’s 250-Year History Of Being A Fairly Good Place To Sleep

SACO – The city of Saco is throwing a great big party and everyone is invited to help celebrate the 250th anniversary of the community’s founding. The celebration will kick off on Saturday, June 9, at 10 a.m., with a parade that will include floats, marching bands and a team of Clydesdales, among many other units. The Saco 250 Committee, which included volunteers and city staff, has worked for almost two years planning and coordinating the five-weekend celebration, which will end with a closing ceremony on July 8. In addition, to the parade, the celebration will include historic walking tours, a high tea with some of Saco’s foremost historians, firehouse Bingo, an ice cream social, a street fair and much more. Also, both the Sidewalk Arts Festival and the Saco Bay Gardening Club’s biennial garden tour are folded into the 250th celebration.
