Rumford Man In The Yo Ho Holding Cell
RUMFORD — A young Rumford man accused of stealing two bottles of rum on Wednesday from Hannaford in two incidents 90 minutes apart, remained in a Paris jail Thursday. Allan W. Hussian, 19, of 26 Rangeley Place, was arrested by Sgt. Tracey Higley on charges of theft and possession of alcohol by a minor. After the second incident, Hussian was booked at Oxford County Jail in Paris where he has been unable to post $150 cash bail. He is to be arraigned on July 3 in Rumford District Court. Higley said that at about 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, a Hannaford official called police to the Waldo Street store for a shoplifting incident. Responding officers were told that a young man had stolen a 750 ml bottle of Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum and left the store, followed by employees who watched him head down Cumberland Street and enter a building, Higley said. Store surveillance video captured the theft and gave police a description of the suspect. Police searched the area and didn’t find anyone matching that description, Higley said. At 4:58 p.m., a Hannaford official called police again, telling them that the suspect had returned to the store for more rum and left without paying for it. (read more at LewistonSunJournal)
