Owner Tells Theater Company To Hit The Yellow Bricks

A financially troubled community theater company is looking for a new home, but the group’s organizers have pledged this week that this is not the final curtain call for a company that has been performing in Sanford for nearly three decades. Sanford Maine Stage, which for years has operated at 1 Hilltop Lane in Sanford, has been asked by the building’s owner to vacate the premises. According to a statement from the theater, the owner has other plans for the building, but theater organizers declined to speculate on what those plans may be. “It’s very, very sad, but I’ve always believed that when one door closes, another one opens,” Mary Stair, a member of the group’s board of directors, said this week.     In my ideal world the next person who says “when one door closes another opens” would be immediately slain by a dwarf with a chainsaw.

    You know, if they’d only listened to you and had dwarf chainsaw murders in their shows the house would have been packed, and all this could have been avoided.
