MMA Fighter Surprised To Learn There’s A Prize, The Other Guy Was Sober, He’s Not Under Arrest

PORTLAND, Maine — Marcus Davis’ first mixed martial arts fight in his home state Friday night was brief but successful. The Bangor resident, also known as “The Irish Hand Grenade,” defeated Travis “Iron Chin” Coyle via a choke hold submission in the first round to highlight the 17-bout Global Fight League 13 card held before an estimated 2,600 fans at the Portland Expo. Coyle, from Denver, Colo., entered the welterweight (170-pound) match with eight wins in his last nine fights, including seven by submission, but the 38-year-old Davis finished the match in just 1 minute, 21 seconds of the 5-minute first round.
